Designers of L.A. Recreate Vintage Clothing

Hunting for vintage clothing is a very time consuming affair; and even after finding it, the clothes of the '70s may not fit us very well. Local designers are looking into this. Most women seem to take inspiration from celebrities like Dita Von Teese and singer Katy Perry when it comes to vintage clothing. The woman of 2011 is not as thin or short like the woman of the '40s. It is estimated that today's women are at least an inch taller and 24 pounds heavier than the woman back then in 1960 according to according to figures compiled by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nevertheless, even plus sized women love vintage clothing and hunt for hard-to-fit pieces. So designers from L.A. are trying to recreate the look and are making vintage inspired cocktail dresses and other stuff.
Annamarie von Firley, co-founder of Revamp Vintage in downtown Los Angeles sells women and men's vintage clothing which have designs from 1910 to 1957. She makes these clothes from vintage patterns with new fabrics. Also there are clothing lines like Stop Staring and Queen of Heartz which center on vintage clothing. These clothing lines produce vintage clothing for curvier figures as well; since normal vintage clothing used to be for the bird boned female of the'40s.
Queen of Heartz creator and designer Letty Tennant says, "I think about what cuts are more flattering and might use wider straps rather than spaghetti straps to make it look better." Unique Vintage is also a clothing line that sells vintage clothes these days.
