For the fashion conscious, the New Year means a whole new wardrobe! The current trends in designer dresses this year indicate that one integral style statement for all women, whether fond of designer dresses or otherwise, is sexy. Short miniskirt designer dresses are quite the rage with detailing such as fringes, jagged hem-lines and low-hems being the flavor of the season. This year, the fabrics being used for designer dresses range from pretty and elegant to bold and textured. Many designer dresses also feature ribbons, silk, tulle, piped ruffles, and rhinestones. The new trends in rhinestones this year are large jagged stones that give a shattered mirror effect. For women that prefer a softer look, Grecian-style designer dresses are quite the vogue. This style features flowing chiffon which provides an ethereal sheer look. Another new style that has been seen on the runway this season is short cocktail designer dresses with a sheer long skirt. Even though there are multiple new and trendy choices for women when it comes to dresses, a vintage designer dress can never go out of fashion and is a must-have for every woman. Vintage designer dresses range from a delicately beaded, flowing gown reminiscent of the 1920s, to body-shaping silks of the 1930s and 1940s, to low cuts and tight bodices of the 1950s.
