Christian Dior Without Galliano Misses The Mark

The reviews for the haute couture from Christian Dior have been very critical. They put a question mark on their ability to do justice to the brand after the sacking of its creative director John Galliano. Christian Dior did announce Bill Gaytten who was the studio assistant of Galliano as the new creative director but the new collection received very little praise.
According to Cathy Horyn from the New York Times, the Christian Dior is an iconic house which is a part of French history itself. It needs a designer who can lend the aesthetic plan for the long run. She was disappointed in the collection which she felt lacked the typical Dior polish.
WWD also panned the latest collection by Christian Dior, saying that the fashion house without a couturier had made a collection which was essentially Galliano in its designs, shapes and audacity but could not match up to the Galliano in his mastery over the Christian Dior haute couture. There was a beauty which was evident in the Galliano era which was missing in the present collection.
